Home Sharing is defined as the provision of care and support to people with intellectual disability, depending on need.

A Home Sharing setting refers to any household which is providing short breaks, frequent breaks or full-time support to a person in their own home.

All arrangements are collectively referred to as a ‘Home Share Arrangements’.

  • We provide short breaks, frequent breaks, day time and/ or overnight stays or full-time support to adults and children, to provide a ‘natural’ living option.
  • Home sharing gives individuals and families greater control and choice in the support services they receive.
  • Home sharing provides a break for the carer whilst being a positive experience for the person with intellectual disability.
  • It allows the community to provide a service to others and to experience the joy of welcoming a person into their home.
  • The fundamental ethos of Home Sharing is to establish and build friendships rather than carrying out a paid staff role.
